In the fight against climate change, a lot of governments are planning a lot of stupid things. One of the dumbest is this idea of zero net carbon emissions goals. I get the idea—that not producing any more carbon and putting it into the air will curb greenhouse gases and the planet can, in time, heal itself—but people who push that goal to the exclusion of all else are bound to make some terrible decisions.
At least, they’re terrible if you’re interested in the big-picture view.
If all you’re worried about is carbon, it’s not that big of a deal. Who cares about higher food prices for people?
