One of the best ways to accumulate wealth in the United States is through real estate. Buying and renting out property allows many to accumulate wealth that, in time, will put them in a much better financial state and allow them to pass on something to their children when they pass.
Some are blessed with the ability to accumulate a lot of property or manage it in such a way they become, well, butt-stinking rich.
Others don’t. They pick up a few properties and are quite content to use the rents to supplement their income, particularly in retirement.
And effort to prevent eviction screwed these people hard.
