The push to combat so-called gun violence bugs me. It’s not that I think violent crime committed with a firearm is a good thing. It’s that it somehow pretends that being murdered with a knife is less bad than being shot and killed.
As someone who has actually lost someone they cared about to a gunshot—in a mass shooting, as a matter of fact—I can assure you, I wouldn’t have felt better if she’d been beaten.
And we also know that gun control doesn’t work, no matter how much people try to claim otherwise.
Yet violence and actual violent crime can be dealt with.
