Donald Trump takes office in less than a week, so the confirmation hearings are going already. There have been tons of stories about Pete Hegseth’s, for example, and some people really need therapy.
And I don’t mean Hegseth.
However, there are a lot of things going on that aren’t making the same headlines, including what we’re looking at with regard to energy policy.
It seems that energy independence isn’t enough for our incoming Secretary of Energy.
Chris Wright, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for energy secretary, will lay out his three immediate goals during the Wednesday morning hearing that kicks off his confirmation process.
Wright — the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy — is expected to emphasize the importance of restoring U.S. energy dominance globally, leading the world in energy-related innovation and cutting regulation during his first hearing in front of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, according to a copy of his prepared opening remarks obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. Thought to be one of Trump’s safer nominees, Wright is also expected to make clear his view that energy is a crucial enabler of human prosperity in his opening statement.
“To compete globally, we must expand energy production, including commercial nuclear and liquified natural gas, and cut the cost of energy” in order to “restore energy dominance,” Wright is expected to say. Notably, the Biden administration froze approvals for new liquified natural gas terminals in January 2024 for nearly a year, a move that critics say undermined the U.S.’ ability to project international influence using energy exports.
Wright also wants to deregulate where it will drop energy costs for consumers.
These all sound fantastic, especially the idea of energy dominance that is to be driven by innovation and expansion of things like nuclear power.
As it stands, it’s the only viable “green” form or electricity, and it doesn’t require us to play nice with countries that absolutely hate us just for existing.
Couple that with energy exports, which seem to be a clear part of the agenda going forward, and good things are on the horizon.
Ultimately, I don’t actually care that much if we’re the number one producer of energy or not. What I care about is that our needs are completely and totally met from sources within our nation. That means we don’t have to play nice with other countries or face an energy crisis. It means we can export some and bring money into the country. It means a lot of things, really.
Perhaps most importantly, though, it means the goal will be providing the energy we need, not appeasing special interests who only want electricity that comes from their pet projects, even if those projects can’t produce enough to meet the nation’s needs.
And that’s not getting into how solar and wind require massive amounts of land that create significant ecological impacts all on their own, which tend to get omitted by these supposed environmentalists.
Plus, more than anything, Wright is apparently pro-nuclear power, which is enough to endear him to me all on its own.
This is a promising sign, particularly if the rest of Trump’s picks take a similar tack in their respective areas of responsibility.
Trump’s slogan has always been Make America Great Again. You can’t do that by screwing up literally everything you touch and pushing us down a road no one is ready for, which is what Biden and Democrats seem determined to do.
That didn’t work and it never will.
This? This is what we need.

I agree. However, I'm a little concerned about what's going to occur regarding the offshore wind farm Biden is currently building that's destroying the fishing industry and killing large populations of whales. It makes me cringe to think about wasting all the money invested in that leftist utopian wet dream, but it's going to kill a lot more than the economy if we continue building. I've diligently searched alternative media and can't find a single article for Trump's plans in this regard.
I'm also aghast at Biden's destruction of endangered Joshua trees to build a solar array in the desert and likewise can't find any information about Trump's plans for that.
Anyone better informed in this than I?
