One of the most fundamental rights anyone has is the right to be a jackass.
We don’t need to protect people’s right to be nice to one another. Politeness doesn’t require legislative action to preserve one’s right to act in such a way.
No, we need the right to do things that others don’t approve of in some manner. If we don’t, then we don’t have the protections needed for things that people may not approve of but desperately need to hear.
The government can’t make that distinction, either.
Yet some people are very upset that lawmakers in one state haven’t actually done that yet.
