If there’s a defining trait that is universal in American politics, it’s that retribution for perceived misdeeds is the norm.
From cancel culture now being directed at the left—and this is an observation only and not necessarily a criticism—to riots in response to unpopular political opinions, getting even is all that matters.
And, frankly, a case can be made that by not responding, you’re just making the problem worse.
Yet it seems some people never seem to get the memo that what you do, the other side can, too.
