I was born and raised in the South. As part of that upbringing, it’s kind of hard not to be faced with segregation to some extent. We saw the vestiges of it every day. In fact, most people in this town can still remember which schools were “white” and which were “colored,” as the nomenclature of the day went.
But luckily, we’re more enlightened today. We learned long ago that segregating people by things like race was silly at best, idiotic or evil at worse. We learned not to do such things.
Or did we?
