The federal government should never be trusted to solve, well, much of anything.
Yes, there’s a place for Congress to act, yet too many people who have been elected to office seem to think there’s a legislative solution to, well, everything. They see something that someone finds to be a problem and they want to ban that problem.
Yet like Chesterton’s Fence, they should understand why that thing exists in the first place.
