No, Democracy isn't on the ballot today
There's a reason why Democrats have pretended it is, though
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been downright tickled at the people who keep saying that this election is about maintaining our system of democracy.
For one, we’re not a true democracy, but a democratic republic. That means that while we vote on a number of things, one of those includes representatives who actually make the bulk of our rules.
That’s because actual democracy is unwieldy for an entire nation.
Yet that’s not the big reason it tickles me. No, that’s because the people spouting this hyperbolic nonsense actually believe it.
