There are a number of conditions I don’t pretend to understand. One of those is autism. It’s not that I doubt its existence—I’ve seen too many cases in person to think otherwise—only that I don’t really get what it truly is and what it means for families.
Of course, as someone who is profoundly ADHD, I’m sure plenty of people feel the same way about my condition.
Yet autism isn’t transgenderism or, perhaps more accurately, gender dysphoria.
Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m not exactly breaking new ground here. Anyone the least bit familiar with either condition knows this is the case.
So why are so many transgender kids actually autistic?
