The United States has long been called “The land of the free,” and for good reason. We’re generally a free society and while we’re not as free as some of us (read: me) would like, we’re still freer than most.
At least, that’s what we’ve always told ourselves.
In the past, we’ve been right, though some metrics say we’re not as free as we’d like to claim. Yet even that status is shaky these days.
