Voting is a right. I don’t think anyone disagrees with this, at least as a concept. Every American citizen has a right to vote on their elected leadership.
Granted, many don’t take advantage of that right, but that is also their right.
Yet people who aren’t citizens shouldn’t be empowered to vote on that leadership. Why? Because they’re not citizens. Just like I can’t go to the UK and suddenly vote in their elections, folks from other countries shouldn’t be able to vote in ours.
And for years, this has been rather non-controversial. Lately, though, some places want to let non-citizens vote. Luckily, there’s an effort to end this nonsense.
