Former San Fran teacher acknowledges kids taught to be offended
“I’m offended.”
That phrase or something like it gets thrown around an awful lot in this day and age. It’s supposedly the ultimate conversation-stopper. After all, in a polite society, we don’t mean to give offense.
So, people—in general, not you reprobates, God love ya—tend to modulate their speech. They avoid talking about certain topics or engaging in debate out of fear they’ll be found offensive.
In fact, it feels so perfectly weaponized that one would think people are taught to find so many things offensive early on.
That’s because, to some extent, they are.
