Monopolies happened and they’re rarely good for consumers. When you don’t have a choice, those who provide a given good or service don’t actually have to do their jobs well. There’s no reason. Where would you go?
Back in the day, the government decided it was supposed to bust monopolies for just that reason. Whether they should or not is a topic of debate, and whether they’re actually doing it today is another.
Especially since it seems Democrats thing everything is a monopoly.
