Canada’s supposedly superior healthcare system has been held up by many Americans as something of an ideal. However, of late, it seems like it’s just as likely to suggest assisted suicide for chronic conditions as, well, treatment.
In fact, that has become something of a meme here in the US.
Now, understand that I think that if people want to end their life, particularly if they’re suffering from conditions that will eventually kill them but also make them suffer the whole time, but Canada shows a problem with it. After all, if the state is paying the bills, eventually someone is going to figure out it’s cheaper for you to die than to treat you.
That’s bad.
Yet it looks like similar thinking is letting one Canadian man sort of get away with murder.
