I’m a white guy who grew up in the South. I’ve had people plainly state to my face that I must be racist because I’m a white guy from the South.
That always struck me as, well, racist. It’s a case of ascribing behavior to someone simply because of their ethnicity.
It didn’t matter how I felt about black people, nor was it based on my actions toward them. It was simply a matter of me being white and from a particular region.
However, I’ve been told repeatedly that there is no anti-white racism. Well, at one American university, it most certainly is and on display, even if not intentionally so.
