Jake Tapper has been a good foot soldier for the left while sitting at his desk on CNN. He’s done everything they could have asked and will likely continue to do more.
However, everyone has a line in the sand. They might not know ahead of time where it is, but they definitely have a point they won’t cross. What determines how good of a person you are is just where that line actually is for you.
Well, it seems Tapper found his.
Tapper didn't just tell us what he thought; he is now challenging Biden surrogates to do more than repeat the same talking points and happy talk and justify their claims that Biden is competent to be the challenger to Trump this November.
Tapper, it appears, is pissed. He didn't even accept Chris Coons' attempt to distract with the every-present "But Trump is a liar" line.
"That's not the discussion, Senator."
The look on Tapper's face when Coons made the claim that Biden was ths strongest and most accomplished president in Coons' lifetime was remarkable.
Exasperation, you could call it. It sure looked that way to me.
Go and read the whole thing. There’s video over at X, which I can’t post here at Substack because of stupid reasons.
Still, Tapper is one of those people who could be a valuable asset for the Democrats if they still had him. Yet his politics haven’t changed. What’s changed is the simple fact that it’s now obvious that POTATUS simply isn’t mentally capable of doing the job. He’s not the man Democrat expected.
Republicans set a low bar for Biden to clear. All he had to do is talk like a normal person and he’d have cleared it.
He failed even that.
Tapper is one of millions who saw that and simply refused to keep buying the spin.
You can demonize Trump all you want, but it doesn’t take away the fact that Biden is clearly having cognitive issues. What’s more, I think if most people were honest, they know that the Trump administration wasn’t as bad as many claimed, including people like Tapper.
I don’t think that will make people vote for Trump, but it will likely encourage some who previously supported Biden to decide to stay home on election day, and no amount of fraud can cover for no one turning out to the polls for your guy on election day.
Undoubtedly, someone will try to make the case that Tapper has always been adversarial to the Biden administration, but that’s just not going to fly.
Look, I’ve never liked Joe Biden. It’s easy for me to look at him and think the worst.
Tapper, however, hasn’t. He’s defended Biden and attacked Trump more times than I care to count. The guy is anything but a fellow traveler when it comes to politics.
And yet, he can see what I’ve been talking about for years. Biden has no business running for a second term. Hell, he has no business being out in public without responsible supervision.
Millions of other Americans, including a ton of life-long Democrats, are seeing that the attacks on Biden’s mental faculties weren’t out of line but were completely accurate.
I can’t help but wonder just how many of them are looking at this now and wondering just what else the Biden administration lied to them about. Hell, how many are wondering if it’s really the Biden administration—or which Biden is running things?
Tapper sees what we’ve been saying. He won’t necessarily acknowledge outright that we were correct, but he’s at least facing the same reality we’ve been telling people about.
How many others in the media will turn on the Biden camp knowing that he’s really not up for the job?
Or maybe some of Biden’s cheerleaders will start trying to tell us how beating Medicare was a good thing and describe some series of events where that actually happened.
After all, I love comedy.
Regardless, Tapper is just one of the people who sees this and will likely spark a lot of other people, particularly in the media, who aren’t going to play that game anymore.
He might have been a good foot soldier in the compliant media, but Tapper’s line in the sand seems to be just shy of shilling for a senile old man who can’t string three words together in a coherent manner.
Everyone’s got a line and we know where his is.

biden has been a stain on the nation since i was 12 y.o.
It's just too bleeding obvious -- and threatens to cost them not just the WH but also downballot. Too many plum jobs at stake -- especially with a disruptive/loose cannon [depending on one's POV] opposing candidate like Trump
